Help with servers
Jul 30th, 2009 at 2:18pm

Hi guys!

Ok so i'm currently trying to set up my own business.
I currently design and create newsletters (mail shots) for small companies in my spare time, i'm currently sending out around 5000 emails for 4 companies.

So ive thought about taken it further.

Now what i want to know is can you recommend any servers that can handle unlimited emails along with hosting the website ill create without the huge bill.

Will i be cheaper buying something?

What's your thoughts on getting this setup?

Regards

Mike

Would this be considered unsolicited mail or spam? I sent out around 20k in emails each month but it is a solicited listed. No spam. I have a worked add remove system and I don't list out or sell out my address. Closed list to say. I have a dedicated server host through Server Intellect. I have no problems sending out emails as long as it is not spam. That is the key.

Hey Guys,

I need some serious help with a web server im going to build so I can start hosting my own websites. What I need to know is do I need to up my current internet connection… 6 Mbps/512 Kbps (down/up) to host more that 1 site… (Goal is at least 60), and if I do need to up the bandwidth what would yall recommend? And should get a separate Static IP just for server itself or use the same IP I have now that I use for 2 computers and Xbox 360 ( main computer is wired in and the laptop and Xbox 360 are wireless).

Here are the specs of my server im going to build
secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17021728
put h t t p : / / in front of secure

Well, one could say that the bw depends on the load of your pages. For a small light "home web" this will do, if not to many users accessing it. To get up to 60 server you should up that bw alot. We host around 90 domains and have 100/100Mbit for that purpose. There are also several other things to bare  in mind. Like power outage. You would consider installing a UPS. When it comes to dedicated hosting you should at least have one static ip for the server and place the other sites on virtual host. There are alot more to it. Its more than just putting up a cpu for the works.¨
Good Luck!
